Postmarked December 7, 1972—Pearl Harbor Day and the official launch date from Kennedy Space Center—this cover marks the beginning of NASA’s final Apollo lunar mission. Cernan and Schmitt were the last two men to walk on the Moon, with Cernan holding the distinction of being the last person to leave the lunar surface.
