Lake Traverse
The Lake Traverse Reservation is home to the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe. The reservation, established in northeast South Dakota, also extends slightly into North Dakota. Tribal Fish and Game stamps were first issued in 1985, with many early types printed on gum-backed or peel-and-stick paper. Some stamps were attached to hunting tags, while others were issued singly. Many have variant backing papers, and only a few examples exist for some years. Issuance ended in 2007 when the tribe adopted point-of-sale licenses, though demand later led to a reissue in 2009.
