Historic cover flown on the first transatlantic flight of the Hindenburg (LZ-129), postmarked May 11, 1936, at Lakehurst, New Jersey. It bears the official purple flight cachet depicting the route to Frankfurt-am-Main, and backstamped in Germany on May 14, 1936. Also includes a black "MIT LUFTSCHIFF HINDENBURG BEF,√±RDERT" handstamp on reverse. A key piece from the early days of Zeppelin passenger service.
