Adams & Co Express, pair 1L3 US Local Post Stamp

Offered is a horizontal pair of 25-cent black stamps on pink glazed surface paper, issued by Adams & Co.'s Express in 1854. Catalog No. 1L3. Each stamp features a portrait of D. H. Haskell and shows a manuscript control marking "LR". The pair is canceled by pen and shows full design details on both stamps. A nice multiple from this early West Coast private express.
