Carried aboard the Graf Zeppelin during its 1929 Round-the-World flight, this postcard was mailed from Lakehurst, New Jersey to Friedrichshafen, Germany. The card is addressed to Fahrmeister Hermann Pfaff , a senior crew member and technical officer aboard the Zeppelin, and is personally signed by Pfaff in the lower right corner. Pfaff played a key role in the ship's engineering operations and is a recognized figure among Zeppelin historians and collectors. Franked with three U.S. stamps (including the 50c Zeppelin issue), the card features the Lakehurst August 7, 1929 postmark, large violet round-the-world cachet, and green Zeppelin flight confirmation marking on the reverse.
